SUMMARY:General Membership Meeting - October 2015
DESCRIPTION:St. Louis is home to two National Park Service sites: Ulysses S. Grant National Historic Site\, and Jefferson National Expansion Memorial\, home to the Gateway Arch. As America's tallest manmade monument\, the Arch serves as the symbol of westward expansion and the iconic front door to St. Louis. On October 28\, 2015\, we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its construction.\n\n\n\nTom Bradley\, Superintendent of Jefferson National Expansion Memorial will lead a discussion on NPS' role in the community as well as the Arch's history and significance\; and will detail the status of its renovations.\n\n\n\nBradley is the superintendent of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial (popularly known as the Gateway Arch) for the National Park Service. He reported for the St. Louis assignment in April 2008 following a widely diverse series of postings with the National Park Service. During his career\, Mr. Bradley has served in many distinguished roles\, including superintendent at Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway where he helped resolve the Arrowhead-Weston power line controversy through an innovative environmental impact statement and mitigation package. At Cuyahoga Valley National Park\, he was instrumental in developing two new not-for-profit partners in sustainable farming and environmental education. Mr. Bradley participated in the restoration campaign for Ellis Island\, the largest privately funded effort in the National Park Service. He also served as superintendent on the island of St. Croix in the United States Virgin Islands.
