SUMMARY:General Membership Meeting August 2015
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our August General Membership Meeting. Our guest speaker is St. Louis County Executive Steve Stenger.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSteve Stenger \n\n\n\nA Certified Public Accountant and an attorney representing South St. Louis County's Sixth District on the St. Louis County Council\, Steve has been an outspoken critic of government mismanagement and has often challenged county administrators on behalf of taxpayers. Knowing that the concerns of St. Louis County residents are too often left unheard\, Steve brought forward a message of reform that led to his election to the County Council in 2008\, and his subsequent re-election in 2012.\n\n \n\nSteve continues to effectively work in questioning county project costs\, consequential conflicts of interest\, loss of federal tax dollars designated for St. Louis County\, the overall financial condition of the county\, and in demanding transparency in county government.\n\n \n\nAt a very young age Steve's parents\, Pete and JoAnn\, instilled in Steve the values of hard work and determination. His father supported the family working as a telephone lineman with Southwestern Bell for more than forty years. Steve\, along with his sisters and brother\, attended St. Dominic Savio Catholic Grade School and Bishop DuBourg High School. While in high school\, Steve was on student council\, a gifted singer\, and played football.\n\n \n\nFollowing his education at DuBourg\, Steve put himself through college at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL)\, and within three years graduated with honors and his degree in accounting. Immediately following graduation from UMSL\, he passed the Missouri Certified Public Accounting Exam on his first attempt. Steve went on to study law at St. Louis University School of Law (SLU Law) in 1993. During his time at SLU Law\, he served as Assistant Editor of the St. Louis University Law Journal going on to graduate with honors in 1996.\n\n \n\nFifteen years ago\, Steve started his own law firm\, Klar\, Izsak and Stenger\, LLC\, where he practices today. Before founding his law firm\, Steve worked as a CPA and an attorney for Ernst & Young.\n\n \n\nToday he and his wife Ali practice law together at their law firm in Richmond Heights\, continue to reside in Affton and look forward to raising their own family in St. Louis County.
