What
is JUNIOR LEADERSHIP CHESTERFIELD?
JUNIOR
LEADERSHIP CHESTERFIELD is an innovative community program developed
by leaders of the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce. It is info rmative,
interesting and thought provoking. The program is designed to motivate
emerging leaders and develop your potential for community leadership
by acquainting you with the opportunities, realities and challenges
of your community. Class members will be expected to actively participate
from September to May.
JUNIOR
LEADERSHIP CHESTERFIELD session formats vary. They include interesting
field trips, speakers, group and individual participation. Current
community leaders and experts from Chesterfield organizations and
institutions will participate in the program sessions with the intent
of stimulating and provoking new thoughts and ideas.

Who
participates in JUNIOR LEADERSHIP CHESTERFIELD?
Twelve
sophomores from Chesterfield area high schools will be chosen to
participate in the program during their junior year. A committee
including Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce members, past Junior
Leadership participants and Junior Leadership sponsors will select
participants who:
Have demonstrated leadership, have a strong interest in leadership
Wish to hold a leadership role in their community and/or school
Are willing to make a commitment to the program
and to participate in all scheduled activities.
Submit a completed, typed application, including one RECOMMENDATION
FORM , completed by an adult member of the community, and signatures
of student and parent(s).
Commitment
of Participants
Applicants
for the JUNIOR LEADERSHIP CHESTEFIELD program must participate in
all activities and attend a minimum of four of the five program
sessions and a separate service project. Other meetings may be added
to make the service project successful. Failure to fulfill this
obligation will result in the dismissal as a participant from the
program.
Tuition
Each
student must pay $25 at the time of application. Tuition received
from participants who fail to meet the time commitment and are dismissed
from the program will NOT be refunded.
Application
Information
Completed
applications for enrollment in JUNIOR LEADERSHIP CHESTERFIELD must
be accompanied by a $25 check, payable to the Chesterfield Chamber
of Commerce in order to be considered. All applications must be
received at the Chamber office.
DEADLINE
FOR RETURNING the application is: May 12, 2008. 5 PM.
Applicants
will be notified, in writing, of their status in the program.
